It’s been a pleasure having the opportunity to spread the word about Tsu.ya and the story behind it, especial when such a talented and beautiful host like Nicole Lapin is listening. The interview, which was for a segment on Recessionista TV gave me a chance to talk about everything that has come with the creation of Tsu.ya.
Nicole and I discussed how the brand came to life, including how I wanted to create a line of active wear for women who are on-the-go and how it’s inspired by the lines and cuts of outfits found out on the rink. We also touched on the challenges of being a female entrepreneur and the surprises I’ve found along the way. It was great to work with Nicole as one female entrepreneur to another, so here’s to the power of women in business!
Unfortunately my flight to the east coast yesterday was cancelled
due to severe weather caused by hurricane Sandy – which means I won’t be able
to attend the Shop Smart Do Good events at Lord and Taylor at the following
locations and times:
Lord and Taylor, Garden City, NY
Tuesday, October 30th
12:00-1:00pm
Lord and Taylor, Stamford, CT
Tuesday, October 30th
3:00-4:00pm
Apologies to anyone
who was hoping to see me there! Please stay safe, warm and dry and I’ll keep
you updated if anything changes.
Yesterday Marie Osmond’s new show Marie
aired on the Hallmark channel, and I was lucky enough to make an appearance. Our
discussion ran from the launch of Tsu.ya,
to my experience with Dancing with the Stars, to my two lovely daughters and what it means to
build a successful family. We also talked about the Always
Dream Foundation, and our
commitment to give back to the community. It was great to talk with Marie, a
very successful entertainer and businesswomen in her own right. Marie’s first
venture of success came with her career as a country artist, but she is also an
accomplished actress and has her own doll line. But of course Marie is kind and
compassionate, and it was a pleasure getting to talk to her on the show.
I had such a wonderful
time on the show, being able to discuss all of the things going on in my life.
Be sure to catch the whole episode on the Hallmark Channel and let me know what you think of my conversation
with Marie!
There is nothing quite
like a charity event that allows you to shop and help the community at the same
time. In this case, 100% of the proceeds of my book sales go to help fund the Always
Dream Foundation’s initiative to
improve childhood literacy. Hosted by a number of Lord
&Taylor stores, the Shop Smart, Do Good event helps local non-profit organizations raise
funds with all proceeds going to the organization. Participating is easy as
purchasing $5 tickets, each of which includes two special 25% bonus coupons
with a few exclusions and a 15% savings pass to be used throughout the day,
including cosmetics and fragrances! Not all Lord & Taylor stores will be
participating, so it might be a good idea to check online before running out
the door.
Lord & Taylor is
the very same store where you can find the complete Tsu.ya line, so be sure to head to a participating Lord
& Taylor to support local charities and pick up some great Tsu.ya gear with
your ticket coupons. You might even run into me at the store! I’ll be making
appearances and doing a bit of book signing at the stores below. These October
events are a perfect fit for the Shop Smart Do Good mission since 100% of the
sales of my books will be going to the Always Dream Foundation.
Yestereday, my new activewear line Tsu.ya launched online at http://tsuyabrand.com/, which marks the completion of the hard work and dedication of many to help make this dream a reality! I am thrilled with the outcome – activewear that is fashionable, modern, yet functional to keep up with women today and the complex and demanding world that we live in!
I wanted this line to inspire daily confidence; to truly help women feel great inside and out. Take a look for yourself over on my website; take a look around, tell me what you think of it all, and as a thank you be sure to use the code in the picture above for a 20% discount from your order! I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed putting the line together!
Every once in a while a girl’s night out is exactly what I need and what better way to have a girl’s night than one to benefit the Always Dream Foundation! The proceeds from tickets sales and ten percent of merchant sales went to the foundation to help with our initiative to improve child literacy.
And then of course there was the pampering, fashion show, workshops, personal shopping, food and last but certainly not least, champagne. I was also lucky enough to have a few friends and fellow moms transform into models to help show off the Tsu.ya line (in the first photo from left to right: Michele, Kelly, Cathy, Channing, Monica and me).
The support from friends and the community was great and made for a very special night for the Foundation and Tsu.ya. In the second photo you can see some friends of mine who came out to support the event (from left to right: Michelle, Lori, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Cathy, Jennifer and me). Thank you to everyone who made this night such a blast!
I am ecstatic that the Tsu.ya line has finally launched, but it was hard to keep all of the excitement to myself! So I recently had a sit-down tea at Leland Tea in San Francisco with a group of local mommy bloggers here in the bay-area to share a few pieces and of course talk about all-things mom and our important little fans that make it all worth it. The ladies loved the line! Above are a few fun pictures from the event.
All of the inspiring ladies I got to meet with at Leland’s you can find below. I encourage you all to take a look at their blogs for great tips on being a busy (and fashionable) mom as well as plenty of little secrets that may come in handy for a rainy day.
Kelly Tirman of KellyTirman.com (@KellyTirman) was amazed by the personalized tea that Leland’s made for Kristi (photo above).
Jessica Rosenberg of It’s My Life (@kikarose) raved about the line and the amazing chicken sandwiches from Leland’s. She’s got a great sense of humor too!
Anastasia Hendrix of The San Francisco Chronicle’s Unzipped blog (@SFUnzipped) loved the line so much, that she’s working on an article for the San Francisco Chronicle – stay tuned!
And last but certainly not least, Yuliya Patsay of She Suggests (@ypatsay) walked in with a smile that was contagious. She looked so happy in the Tsu.ya jackets and I am so glad she was able to make it.
Very much looking forward to the next get together!
I’ve mentioned my anticipation for the release of my clothing line Tsu.ya a few times here on this blog, but tonight at Fashion's Night Out the Tsu.ya line will be officially released! The 18 piece line will be exclusively sold at Lord and Taylor stores (and their online site). I’m hoping women will find Tsu.ya to be functional enough to do a hard workout in, and stylish enough to run around town in after the gym.
Well I am off to Fashion’s Night Out to celebrate the launch and all of this hard work! Don’t forget to register on TsuyaBrand.com to be e-mailed when the line is available to purchase there as well.
I can’t believe Tsu.ya is launching in 2 days! We have been working tirelessly on the design of each of the 18 pieces in the line to represent the ideal balance of functionality and fashion.
Most of all, the collaboration and process of bringing Tsu.ya to fruition has been quite a learning experience and more fun than I would have ever imagined. Here you can see Miss Jen giving a sneak peek of a Tsu.ya piece! Who else is excited?
The line will be available at Lord & Taylor (in-stores and online at http://www.lordandtaylor.com) on Thursday and don’t forget to register at TsuyaBrand.com to be notified when the line is available to order from our website!
